Drones Direct (“we”, “us” or “our”) runs the online store at dronesdirect.com.au. This privacy policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Information we collect

We only collect the personal information we need to run the store and look after our customers. Depending on how you use the site, this can include:

Orders: your name, billing and delivery addresses, email address, phone number and the details of what you ordered.
Payments: payments are processed by our payment providers. We don’t see or store your full card details.
Accounts: if you create an account, your name, email address, password (stored in encrypted form), saved addresses and order history.
Messages: when you use our contact form, email us or use live chat, your name, email address, phone number if you choose to give it, and what you tell us.
Newsletter: if you sign up, your email address.
Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type and the pages you visit, collected through server logs and cookies.

You can browse the site without giving us any personal information. You’ll need to provide some details to place an order or to receive a reply from us.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

process, deliver and support your orders
reply to your questions and requests
run your account if you have one
send our newsletter if you have signed up
keep the site secure and prevent fraud
understand how the site is used so we can improve it
meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records

We won’t use your information for purposes unrelated to these without your consent, unless the law allows or requires it.

We share personal information only where it’s needed to provide our service, with:

delivery carriers, so they can deliver your order
payment providers, so they can process your payment

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Some of these service providers may store or process information outside Australia, for example in the United States or the European Union. Our site also loads fonts from Google, which means Google receives your IP address when you visit.

Cookies

Cookies are small files saved by your browser. We use them to make the store work, for example to remember what’s in your cart and keep you signed in to your account. Our live chat tools may also set cookies. We don’t currently use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. If that changes, we’ll update this policy first.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the store, such as the cart and checkout, may not work without them.

We only send our newsletter to people who sign up for it. You can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing sales@dronesdirect.com.au. Every marketing email we send will also include a way to unsubscribe.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to customer information is limited to people who need it to do their job. No website or online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, and for as long as the law requires, for example for tax and accounting records. When we no longer need it, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can view and update your account details, saved addresses and order history in My account. To request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it, email sales@dronesdirect.com.au. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

Children

Our store is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
